Today, A Smile

There are some days when life just seems to take a big crap on your front yard. You walk out to go to work and you just realize it’s not going to be a good day. You get stuck in traffic and some jerk driver cuts you off, you can’t find a parking spot and end up stuffing a meter, you can’t find your keys so you have to walk clear around the building to use the front entrance.

People at work nose into your business and gloat over your shoulder when you mess up. The meeting you were supposed to have goes impossibly long and you don’t have much time to prepare for your interview. During said interview, you forget to push record. You end up having to stay at work much later than you planned to catch someone else for an interview. At the end of the day, the pain that started in the middle of your forehead has spread out over your eyes and down into your cheekbones and the dress clothes have long lost any semblance of comfort they may have held.

But in it all, there are the small moments of brightness. And today, that moment of brightness was a smile.
