Thinly Disguised Perks
After two and a half months at my job, I finally got my locker assigned to me in the women’s staff locker room. (I was promised this when I first arrived…it takes Corporate America a while to fulfill its promises.) And a pair of crimson shorts and a gray t-shirt. I got my locker combination and the combo to get into the locker room. I was totally set and ready for business.
Friday was my first day of hitting the first-rate varsity athletes’ weight room. (This job doesn’t come with a lot of perks, but that is definitely one.) I went into the locker room and *drum roll* my locker totally has my name on it. It big, official looking letters. It’s pretty sweet.
Not sweet however, was my workout. I’ve slacked off since the first couple weeks I was here. I have lost ground to make up.
Now that I think about it - maybe the varsity weight room isn’t such a great perk. You try working out next to a DI running back and then tell me how big of a hit your self-esteem takes. I’m going at it on the elliptical machine and Mr. RB has the treadmill at max incline and running five-minute miles.
Yep, some perk.
